IRIS Client Project Overviews – Department of Defense (DoD)
DoD, Defense Health Agency (DHA), Defense Healthcare Management System Modernization (DHMSM), MHS Genesis:
IRIS is a small business team member of the Leidos Partnership for Defense Health (LPDH) that is implementing the new, DoD-wide, interoperable, COTS EHR systems (Cerner/Henry Schein) for the Military Health System. Originally called the “Defense Healthcare Management Systems Modernization (DHMSM)”, the project has been renamed, “MHS Genesis”.
In addition to LPDH standing up the new system, integration activities include various components and MHS legacy systems. The new EHR system will serve 9.6 million patients across the globe, eventually replacing MHS legacy clinical systems, including AHLTA, CHCS, and the Theater Medical Information Program-Joint (TMIP-J).
IRIS is providing Initial Operating Capability (IOC) Project Coordination services for the Pilot implementation on the Pacific West Coast. IRIS is the LPDH liaison for all deployment related activities for the Madigan Army Medical Center (Tacoma, WA), working with site staff and the Army liaison to ensure that milestones are met. As well, IRIS provides communications support for the MHS Genesis Change Management Team located in Virginia.
DoD Military Health System (MHS), AHLTA Worldwide Sustainment:
Since 2010, IRIS has been supporting the worldwide sustainment of the Military Health System’s electronic health record (EHR) system. IRIS provides systems engineering management and oversight, program management, project management and software development services.
As part of AHLTA sustainment, IRIS has been supporting the MHS Theater Medical Data Integration (TMDI) project since 2011, and leads the .NET integration and interoperability project, providing systems engineering and program management support.
DoD Military Health System (MHS), AHLTA Integration:
Since 2011, IRIS has been providing the AHLTA integration project with support for the full software development life cycle (SDLC), including design, development, documentation, testing, and deployment for software enhancements, extensions, defect corrections, and integration of new feature sets and legacy systems.
IRIS provides interoperability support across MHS EHR systems, including:
IRIS also provides support for components from other business areas such as the Defense Health Care Systems (DHHS), and components belonging to the individual branches of the U.S. Armed Services.
