As usual, IRIS was at the center of the action in supporting the Federal Health Architecture program at the HIMSS 2016 Annual Conference & Exhibition held in Las Vegas, Nevada, February 29th thru March 4th, 2016, as it has for the past 10 years. This year the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration (SAMHSA) was a primary presenter in the FHA Interoperability Showcase.

Eric Larson, IRIS’s resident expert on all aspects of the FHA Interoperability Showcase, helped organize this very important public event for the FHA and HIMSS. Our team’s efforts helped to drive traffic to the Interoperability Showcase kiosks and give greater visibility to SAMHSA’s work on MyHealthCompass / Consent2Share, a platform designed to empower patients in making informed consent decisions.

According to Kenneth Salyards, SAMHSA Information Management Specialist,
It was a remarkable opportunity for SAMHSA to share and publicize our behavioral health interoperability efforts and the MyHealthCompass / Consent2Share platform.

By providing “superb” coordination of the FHA and stakeholder bi-weekly meetings, kiosk preparation, and onsite support throughout the event, IRIS was once again instrumental in making this year’s Interoperability Showcase a great success.

The theme of “patient involvement in health information exchange” is the focus of the 2017 HIMSS Annual Conference. We look forward to building upon the outstanding work that FHA and SAMHSA demonstrated at this year’s event, and to further engaging with the public on critical healthcare issues and government health initiatives.

Well done, FHA & SAMHSA Teams!!
